If you enjoy spending time here...then continue doing so. No one determines what your personal experience with this site will be, positive or negative, except for you. Don't allow people to have that type of power over you, to make your experience here negative. You shared your opinion, and some people disagreed. It will happen...and maybe even quite often, but beyond that don't let any other negative stuff get to you.

I'm not on either side because I just don't care, but I wanted to point out...that there are plenty people "native to America", by that I mean people born here, that are drug dealers and gang members, and what not. But...obviously, there's a ton of people who aren't those things that are native to this country. I don't think every Mexican immigrant is a drug smuggler or gang member, certainly it happens, but the same could be said for you know...Americans.

Where a person is from, and their citizenship status has no affect on their character. Wait, that's not accurate, a person's cultural up bringing does affect their character...but that's a different argument. Let me try again...There are good people, and there are bad people, on all sides of the spectrum. Sweeping generalizations are not acceptable.

I live in the south. I was raised here. I was born here. This has been my life for twenty something years. The thing of it is, I've experienced so much hatred here. Yeah, I get that it's just a flag and it only has the meaning you give it...but what about the meaning that other people give it? What about that? I work in a very public place and hear all sides of this argument...or rather I hear one side all day long. The thing of it is, regardless of what that flag stood for in history, it has taken on a new meaning in recent times. Here...protecting your heritage has become synonymous with racism and homophobia. The people who rally beneath that flag are the very same people who hate me for being gay, and hate others based on race. I don't mean to lump the sexuality argument in with the racism argument, but they both tend to walk hand in hand here. If you hate one group, uphold ludicrous stereotypes...you'll pretty much generalize them all. I don't know yeah...that flag isn't just a flag. That flag is a symbol of hate. That flag is what these people rally behind, what gives them the courage to commit heinous acts of hate...because they aren't just random acts of violence, with that flag...they stand for something, they're upholding something, representing something. I know removing the flag won't abolish homophobia or racism...but, well...think of it this way, the swastika was once a symbol of luck and power found amongst tons of cultures scattered across the globe. It has become a symbol of hate because of what a single group has used it to represent. The swastika, no matter the positivity it was originally imbued with, has become synonymous with hatred and fear. The same people who wave that flag or have it sewed onto their clothes....those are the same people, that are likely to beat, maim, or kill someone for being a different race, or for being gay. That flag is no longer the same symbol that it once was. It has been adopted and adapted over time to represent hate groups. I'm all for it being banned.

Flying the "gay" flag isn't the same thing by any means. Once us homos revolt and form hostile militant groups and start killing homophobes, start really fighting for our rights...start hate groups based on people being straight or homophobic or whatever...then you can argue that it is inappropriate to fly our flag.

It's two different issues.

The flag you are talking about is a representation of hate and violence where as our flag is about celebration, joy, pride.

For the record...I'm all for a hostile militant homo group. We need to stop demanding our basic human rights, and just fucking take them. I'm sick of peace. I'm sick of our people being attacked, killed...and committing suicide because of hate. It's time we rise up and really start defending ourselves.

Excellent point,I used to sing in a southern rock band,we put the rebel flag up,because we were rebels in music.So I get your point,but my point has nothing to do with hate.Its all how you view it.

So ok they took down the Rebel flag in N.Carolina,ok.But to abolish a tv show from airing ''THE DUKES OF HAZZARD'' c'mon,i used to watch that show.And to take that car ''THE GENERAL''out of car shows,youve have to be kidding me.Our freedoms and rights to watch what we see on tv is being taken away.This show is harmless,with all the violence they show on tv and movies,with all the sex blood and gore,they attack ''THE DUKES OF HAZZARD''.This is just the beginning of the shows,to not be aired,just wait and see.
